Intuition is not a “Flakey” Concept

Intuition and Mothers

There is not a Mother on the planet, whether she considers herself “spiritual” or not, that would tell you that developing a good “intuition” is not an important part of her “job”.   It is simply understood.  And accepted.  Because there is so much evidence of how important it is.

What do you do when your child gets sick?   You ask for clues.   What do you do when you kid starts hanging out with the wrong crowd?  Do you get a “feeling” in your stomach?  You know it’s not good .   Your intuition helps you solve small problems before they become “big” problems.

There are many others, who may or may not consider themselves “spiritual”, who eagerly admit that they, too, tap into their intuition regularly.  Stock traders certainly do.  They will openly tell you that their “gut” told them to buy this, or sell that.   Athletes do as well.   How do they know exactly when to pass that ball or that puck to get it delivered at exactly the right moment?   Yes, they practice.  For sure they do.  But they are not sitting there with a calculator figuring out how many hundredths of a second it’s going to take their teammate to get into that exact position.   The have to “feel” it.  Or “know” it.

Yet, not that long ago in our human history, the concept of using “intuition” got messed up with witches and warlocks and black cats and strange brews.   It was made to appear “evil”.   Interestingly though, Kings and Queens and the business elite were exempted from this stigma.  It was ok to have a wizard, like say Merlin, on your advisory board, if you were royalty.    Well, in those days no-one else was allowed to have an “advisory board”.   But I digress.

The point I am making is that the concept of accessing our Intuition somehow became tangled up with being “affected” and subject to persecution.  Not being “normal” was a punishable offence, and people were actually prescribed sedatives and given lobotomies for “possessing” anything even close to intuition.   The last 5,000 years of human history does contain a significant period of darkness, where there were a lot of things done to each other that we can look back on now and go, really?  wtf?   Take a look at some of the museums set up displaying “our” creations for torturing each other.  It will make you cringe, what “we”, the human race, came up with.  We are a very creative lot.

It is 2016.  It is a new day.  A new world.  And there is so much we know today that we didn’t know then.  We are allowed to be free.  We are allowed to be “different”.  In fact, our differences are what will make us stronger as a society.  We all have a piece to the puzzle.  We all bring our own unique expression.  We all have a role to play.

Even the things we place value on is changing.  When I was young, if you wanted to be successful you basically had two choices – become a doctor, or a lawyer (for women it was school teacher or nurse).  Nowadays, relatively speaking, those careers are quite limiting.   You might want to strive for your own youtube channel and a million followers.   You would be way more successful in many people’s eyes if you did that.  YouTube wasn’t even a thought form when I was a kid.   I didn’t get my first 64k apple 2e computer until I was in grade 11.  If no-one knows how much 64 k is, there is not a single calculator today that has such little computing capacity.  Solar-powered calculators are more powerful than that!  But, you know, in its day, that was an awesome $3,000  investment!

Fairy BridgeWe are re-learning all sorts of concepts today that were somehow forgotten during the “dark ages.   We are learning that we must take time out for ourselves.  We must get plenty of sleep.  We must pay closer attention to what we eat.  We should definitely get some regular exercise.  And, we need to re-learn how to “talk” to ourselves.   Children do it.  It is something that comes naturally to them.   They are always exercising their imagination and talking to whomever.  And this is encouraged.   Until they reach a certain age.  At which point they are told that it is no longer acceptable to play in that way … people might think they are “crazy”.  What a trip.   It is time for all of us to rediscover our childhood.  Our imagination and our “extra” senses are very important life tools.   They are part of the key to making our lives work for us!
